November has been a busy month, but I am trying to make the most of every moment.
Lately I feel like I need to sit back and relax. In more recent months, I have been so focused on being productive and getting things done, that I haven't had much time to take it all in.
I have always wanted to be a writer. For the last six months, I have been working on freelance writing jobs in addition to my regular job. It's so important that I build up my resume and get my name out there. It's hard to believe that a year ago, I was interning, and now people are actually paying me to write. This past year has been incredibly rewarding. For the first time, I really feel that I am taking steps forward in my life, rather than remaining stagnant.
One thing I do long for is free time. I miss watching excessive amounts of TV, reading all day, and seeing friends whenever I like. Right now, I am trying to focus on making the most of my time, and letting myself enjoy it, instead of thinking about something productive I could be doing.
Building my career is my priority, but I am ready to try bringing some balance back to my life.
How do you find time for everything?
I want to be a writer as well. I never really thought about freelance but maybe I should give it a try. I am currently writing a childrens book :D
ReplyDeleteIf you have any tips I would love to hear.
Btw great picture

The biggest thing I miss in my busy life is 'me' time, so I get up early. Right now it is 6.13am here and the house is verrrry quiet - this is my time :))

Congratulations on your freelance writing jobs! I find myself with too much time in my hands since I resigned from my job. When I was working full-time and attending school full-time, making daily lists always helped me prioritize and squeeze some me time each day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything!
beautiful pic! i feel the same, girl

ReplyDeleteI feel you girl. But I keep in mind, that I'd rather have a lot of stuff to do, so I can actually choose to do the one I'd like to do most that day rather than having one random meet-up in a week....

I agree i think we're all becoming a bit obessed with being focused on getting to where we want, It is a great way to be, but as you say its about balance, and sometimes it can be at the loss of living in the moment and enjoying the simple things in live and not feeling guilty about sitting & watching tv, or reading a book.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and gorgeous make up. very pretty.

Stunning!
ReplyDeletegood for you! i'm really proud of you for putting in that hard work (IN ADDITION to the other job you're working) -- that's what it takes, and it's easy to look at it from the outside and rationalize it or see how it's worth it…but it's hard when you're living that day-to-day. i've been there. i guess i'm still there, in some ways. have you done any freelancing work you're especially happy with? that's so neat! keep it (and your chin) up, lady. : )
ReplyDeletei love your make-up!

I always take a step back and will find the time to spend with friends and family, do what makes me happy, because when it comes down to it...THIS IS THE TIME, there's only one life to live...so LIVE!

You're so beautiful! I'm really busy with school because I'm trying to get a grade ahead, and I can totally relate to you not having enough time for other things that you love! I barely even have time for my blog! I guess for me it's just all about taking advantage of every free minute I have!

ReplyDeleteHi Shannon, your post really touched me because I can relate to your experience. I used to dedicate my free time to being more productive, but now I've been taking more strides to relaxing too (20 min episodes of Big Bang Theory, hugging my grandma, eating a cookie). Even ambitious people need breaks! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :) If you enjoy my blog too, would you like to follow each other? xo Jess

I think it's important to make time for everything you want to do. Have separate days for friends and work. I plan my week so that I have energy to do all I plan to do. If I notice that I'm away from home more than two evenings in a row, I change that. It's important to know one's boundaries so that one can plan life according to them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment on my blog!
