seven free things to do with friends.

Funds low? Strapped for cash? There might be clubs, bars, restaurants, and attractions everywhere you turn…. but that doesn’t mean you need to spend hard earned money to have a good time. All you need is good company. Oh, and a dash of creativity. If you're on a budget at the moment, try one of these free activities. Each one-of-a-kind experience will be just as thrilling as a night on the town. Plus, they’ll give you a chance to bond with your closest pals. Ready? Here goes….

Start Your Own Book Club. Life gets busy. That can make it extremely difficult to carve out free time to see friends or read a good book. It doesn’t have to be that way. Just start a book club with a small group of friends. Each month someone in the club will pick out one book to read and discuss. (Take turns! Or choose friends with similar interests to avoid disagreements on book selection.) That will give you plenty of reasons to get through those pages. Plus, a monthly meeting will guarantee hang out time is planned and set aside. No excuses. Get reading!

Host an Organization Party. You have a million papers lying around. Pictures. Notes. Documents. Not to mention computer files all over your desktop. Sometimes staying organized is easier said than done. Which is why this is the perfect project to tackle with a good friend. Great conversation can make daunting tasks (like organization) feel far more manageable. Bonus? You will have a voice of reason right there with you. Just in case you can’t let go of those report cards from middle school or the illegible notes you’ve scribbled down over the years. Open a bottle of your favourite wine, put on some upbeat music, and host your very own organization party.

Do Some Volunteer Work Together. You’re looking for new things to do. New ways to bond and strengthen your relationship. Why not volunteer? Volunteer work is a fantastic way to do something different, benefit the community, and spend time with friends. It doesn’t cost money to do and it will help other people. Score! This weekend, look up local charities and organizations. The two of you (or a full group of you) can choose some places to volunteer. Then take the necessary steps to make it happen. You could volunteer at a second hand store, an animal shelter, or another organization you are passionate about. This move will keep you focused, allow you to give back, and benefit your friendship.

Other Free Ways To Have Fun:

  • Have an at home spa day with your BFF. Light candles, put on some relaxing face masks, and unwind in comfort. By the end of the day? You will feel pampered and well rested.
  • Play old school board games. Drag them out of the closet, dust them off, and prepare yourself for an evening of fun. You’ll be shocked how exciting it is to take a walk down memory lane.
  • Speaking of memory lane…. old video games are always a great idea. Still have that Nintendo system? Host your own Mario Kart tournament. There is no better way to unlock your competitive side.
  • Have a music swap. Exchange five CDs you think the other person would like. From there you can listen to them together or separately. This will help you load up your iPod with new tunes – and help you to learn a little bit more about your friend. Win-win!

Money doesn’t necessarily equal a good time. It is all about the company you keep. So, make the most of what you’ve got. Simply try out one of these fun and free ideas. You – and your friends – will love them.

Looking for another free form of entertainment? There are always YouTube videos! Yes, that was my (not-so-successful) segue into my latest video. It is a review of the Stila liquid eyeshadows. Let me know what you think of the video and don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe.
