random drugstore makeup haul (nyx, maybelline, and l'oreal)

While out and about looking for Christmas gifts (my intention is to have all of the holiday shopping done by December 1st, so there is time to decorate, watch movies, and spend time with loved ones) an unexpected extra was purchased. A random assortment of drugstore makeup items were tossed into a clear pouch and marked down to $9 CDN at Winners. There appeared to be a lot of products well suited to my makeup preferences. At such a low price, it was a nice way to spoil myself without feeling too guilty about it. Ready to take a look at what was included? Here is a random drugstore makeup haul.

There were three different eyeshadows in this little set, including an Oil Eyeshadow in the shade Bravery from L'Oreal, Expert Wear Eyeshadow trio in Impeccable Greys from Maybelline, and a Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Happy Hour from NYX. Starting with the L'Oreal eyeshadow, this is an ultra creamy eyeshadow formula. It goes on smooth and the bronze colour is stunning. It is a quick one-shadow product. I love the formula and the gorgeous shimmery finish. The eyeshadow trio from Maybelline has some really beautiful shades of grey to choose from. These will definitely be well suited to the cool winter months. These shades are pretty, but the pigmentation level is meh. The shimmery grey performs the best of the three. As for the single eyeshadow from NYX, this is in the shade Happy Hour, which is a beautiful taupe. I have a magnetic palette that this can be added to, so it being a single is not an issue. This is a standout. I really love the colour and the eyeshadow is nicely pigmented.

There were also three lip products from NYX included in this little set. The first is the Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Tres Leches. It is a beautiful pink-brown shade. It has a glossy finish, but doesn't feel sticky or uncomfortable on the lips. Next is a product called Simply Vamp Lip Cream in the shade Bewitching. This would have come in handy during spooky season, but dramatic makeup looks are fun all year round, so I will definitely be doing my best to put this to good use. The last product is a Butter Lipstick in the shade Gumdrop. It is a bright candy coloured pink. It makes me think of the candy themed Christmas decor items that are everywhere. It might be fun to create a candy themed holiday look this year using the Gumdrop lipstick.

Though this assortment of products was random and unexpected, there were some winners. Not all items wowed (like the Maybelline eyeshadow trio) but most were colourful and interesting. There is a lot to put to use over the the next little while.

What drugstore makeup brands do you like best? Have you tried any of these items?
