my seasonal reading list (november and december)

It is fun to choose seasonal books from my bookshelf. I like browsing the stacks of books that I have and deciding which ones will be part of my holiday celebration. Some of the books in this seasonal reading list are thrifted, some are re-reads, and some are new. I wanted a mixture of familiarity and fresh stories to keep things interesting. Here is a closer look at my book list...

Holiday Themed Mysteries. I love a good mystery novel, especially something in the cozy mystery genre. It was essential to have a few holiday themed mysteries in this reading list. The first is a book that I was gifted last Christmas but did not get around to reading: The Most Wonderful Crime Of The Year from Ally Carter. The description sounds interesting (an enemies to lovers story involving a mystery writer and a missing person) and I am looking forward to reading something from a new to me author. The second book shown has three novellas from cozy mystery writers. I really enjoy Leslie Meier books, so that was the reason Yule Log Murder was purchased, but I am excited to read holiday themed stories from two other authors as well.

Sweet Holiday Romances and an Old Favourite. The other books on this list are a mixture of old and new. Wish Upon a Star from Sarah Morgan is one that I picked up on a discount table at Indigo last year. (It is hard to resist a holiday themed book, especially when it is on a sale table.) It has two stories that center around characters who are struggling with some aspect of the holiday season. Fingers crossed it will be a good read. The next book shown is one that I found at a thrift store for $1.99. It is another short story collection with stories from several different authors. I am not overly familiar with any of the authors included in this collection, so this is a nice way to test out some new ones. The last book on this list is Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. Since the movie Christmas With The Kranks is one of my all-time favourites, it is nice to re-read the book the movie is based on. Skipping Christmas is a book that I like to re-read each time the holiday season rolls around.

Are there any holiday books on your seasonal reading list? Have you read any of these?

  1. Yes we had a really great time =) The Danube has so many beautiful spots and even the weather was not perfect, it was so nice to see so many places in a short time. But I have to go on a Danube river cruise again with Budapest =)

Very interesting reading list. The "Yule Log Murder" sounds interesting, I would read it too.
