theme week: the breakfast club x physicians formula (face palettes)

There are an awful lot of products in The Breakfast Club x Physicians Formula collection. Mascara, lipstick, eyeshadow, and two different face palettes. Spoiler alert: the face palettes are the clear standouts. In the past, there have been a handful of products from Physicians Formula that I have loved, including the Butter Collection. I was impressed with the bronzer, blush, and highlight included in that set...and the same is true this time around. Ready to take a look inside the Saturday Detention Face Palette Volume 1 and Volume 2? Keep reading for a review of each face palette and a recent makeup look.

Saturday Detention Face Palette Volume 1. Pictured above is the first of the two face palettes included in The Breakfast Club x Physicians Formula collection. Everything in this collection is well themed and this face palette is no exception. There are illustrations of the characters on the front, movie stills on the inside and even themed stamps in the products. On the first row, there is a paper airplane stamped into the pans and the bottom says: Sincerely Yours, The Breakfast Club. Those extra little details make this palette feel extra special. The shade names are also themed: The Brain, The Princess, The Athlete, The Basketcase, The Rebel, and Class of '84. As for the quality, these are all outstanding. The first highlight has a fabulous pink-purple shift and the second highlight is a gorgeous golden colour. Both blushes are beautiful and make me think of the Claire character. The bronzers work really well for me also. I can use them to contour or as a warm blush. All of the face products are highly pigmented, blend well, and result in a warm and wearable finish. This is something that can be used all year round, but will be especially useful during the summer season. The theme, colours, and product quality are all impressive.

Saturday Detention Face Palette Volume 2. Next is the second version of the face palette. I like that there were multiple face palettes included in this set to ensure that there were products to suit different skin tones and makeup preferences. Though I have fair skin, this face palette is my favourite of the two. The first is wonderful and is something that I reach for a lot for daytime makeup looks, but the second version is a little bit bolder. Though this palette design has a slightly different design, with different colours, drawings, and movie stills used, it follows a similar formula and uses the same shade names. The difference this time around? The first highlight has a golden finish, the second highlight is a darker gold, the blush colours are darker, and the bronzers are darker. The darkest bronzer also has a bit of shimmer to it. I really like the colours included, especially the blushes and that shimmery bronzer. Since I tend to like wearing a heavier blush, I love these bolder colours.

The makeup look above shows off some of the product included in the Saturday Detention Face Palette Volume 1. Both bronzers were used, as was The Princess blush on the cheeks. I also used the eyeshadow palette...but more on that in the next theme week post. (Some of the cheek products from the Volume 2 palette will be featured in the next makeup look as well.) There is no doubt about it: the Physicians Formula face palettes are excellent. I love the fun theme, colours, and the pigmentation level. These products are so easy to use and pair well with all sorts of different makeup looks.

Have you tried any face products from Physicians Formula? What did you think of the quality?
