holiday #FOTD: red and green makeup look

Each year, it seems there is a different colour trend that takes over the holiday season. Frosty winter whites and blues, pastel candy colours, and sometimes, even silver and gold. However, it is nice to stick to the classics. Red and green are commonly associated with this time of year. Traditionally, these colours were tied to winter solstice traditions, with red holly berries and green leaves, but these colours have also been known to represent blood and eternal life. Whatever the reason...red and green are easily the most recognizable Christmas colours. That is the reason this holiday themed #FOTD focuses on both.

Tis the season to put The Grinch Eye and Face Palette from Taste Beauty to use. This eyeshadow palette was highlighted recently on the creation of beauty is art. and it has remained in heavy rotation ever since. It has a lot of wonderful seasonal shades, including some exciting red and green eyeshadows. It seemed only right to put them to use to create a warm and wearable red and green makeup look. The main eyeshadows used were Santy Claus, Grinchmas, and Who-Hash.

To create this colourful but wearable red and green makeup look, the eyeshadow shade Who-Hash was applied to the inner third of the eyelid. Who-Hash is a beautiful green shimmer. It was packed on heavily to that area, and then the red eyeshadow, Santy Claus was used on the rest of the eyelid. To bring in a little more of that red colour, the red blush shade was used for a little extra intensity. The matte green eyeshadow, Grinchmas, was applied along the lower lash line with some more Santy Claus. A small bit of Tinsel, a shimmery champagne shade was added to the inner corner and underneath the brow bone. Then it was eyeliner and mascara as usual. Some of that same red blush was applied to the apples of the cheeks and a neutral brown matte lipstick finished it all off. I am loving this eye and face palette from Taste Beauty - and this red and green makeup look.
