Ahh...how I love thrift stores. There are all sorts of hidden treasures inside. One of my favourite thrift stores only carries media (CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, and records) but it is not somewhere that I am able to visit often. This is because armfuls of items come home with me every single time. However, every now and then, I am treated to a quick browse. The last time that I visited, there were all sorts of holiday items available. On that note, here are some recent thrifted Christmas finds.
Exciting Holiday CDs. There were a lot of holiday CDs available this time around. I was able to find eight in total, including some
John Denver ones. I already owned Christmas Like a Lullaby and Rocky Mountain Christmas on other formats, but was excited to add the CD versions to my collection. (I have this portable CD player that I like to take with me from room to room, so it is nice to have these CD versions of some holiday favourites.) I was excited to add the Olivia Newton-John album, Christmas Wish, to my collection. It is a beautiful album. I also found The Season Will Never Grow Old from Anne Murray and The London Symphony Orchestra. The prices of the CDs varied from $8.99 CDN to $1.00, but all were well worth the cost.

Holiday Compilation CDs. There is something about a seasonal compilation album that I adore. I love holiday instrumental albums and albums with an assortment of songs from different artists. These are ideal to have on in the background while cleaning, writing, or reading. The first one that I found was Jazzy Christmas, which was a must, because I love jazzy Christmas music. Then there was Christmas Elegance, which is all instrumental. I also found a fun Walt Disney Theme Parks themed album called Christmas Around The World. This was such a fun find and only cost $1 CDN. Last is the Quality's Treasury of Christmas. I actually own the cassette version of this (it was mentioned in a
seasonal favourites post a few years back) and was thrilled to find the CD version as well. It offers a really great assortment of holiday songs and has been in heavy rotation.
New to Me Christmas DVDs. In addition to all of those holiday CDs, there were also a few DVDs that my collection was without. The first was a movie that I hadn't heard of before, Home For The Holidays. It had a star-studded cast and was absolutely bizarre. Despite how odd and unsettling the movie was, it was also a memorable watch. The next movie that I found is called The Christmas Star, which is a Disney movie from 1986. The plot of the movie is similar to many that I have seen before, but it is also a really good watch. I have a weakness for movies from the 80s and 90s, so this checked a lot of boxes for me. The last item in this haul was a collection of classic films: Christmas In Connecticut, A Christmas Carol, The Shop Around The Corner, and It Happened On 5th Avenue. I had seen Christmas in Connecticut many times before (it is a favourite) but absolutely loved the other movies in this classic film set as well. I especially enjoyed this version of A Christmas Carol. It was a delight.
