welcome december + oh deer christmas palette review

It is here...the best month of the year. December holds so many sweet memories and so many hopes for the future. It is a time to open up advent calendars day by day, listen to holiday music on the radio, bake special treats with loved ones, hand out seasonal cards, and decorate the home. There is an air of excitement and anticipation. There is magic. There is wonder. December is a reminder of what matters most: love and kindness. It is a time to look forward and look back. Everything just feels a little more beautiful once December rolls around. To say that I am feeling festive would be an understatement. So, it seems only right that the first post of the month be dedicated to a seasonal makeup release from Beauty Creations.

The Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette caught my eye on another random Winners visit about a month and a half back. Since I have a serious weakness for all things Christmas themed, it was immediately purchased. Did I need it? No. But the packaging looked so sweet and festive. I bought it as a pre-holiday treat for myself and used it throughout the month of November. Now that December is officially here, my plan is to continue to use this adorable shadow and face palette for those everyday kind of holiday looks. Though I was not familiar with the brand Beauty Creations before stumbling upon this palette, a quick peek at the website has filled my heart with joy. The Oh Deer Christmas Holiday Collection is ridiculously cute and well themed. There are all sorts of products to choose from in this collection. As for me? I am thrilled to have this palette to use.

The packaging for the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette is simple but thoughtful. It comes in a fairly standard cardboard, but it feels sturdy enough. It is a nice soft pink and has two cute deer cartoons on the front and inside below the mirror. The eyeshadow names are all holiday themed (examples include Dasher, Reindeer, and Santa's Helper) and there are festive designs printed into some of the eyeshadows (star, heart, Christmas tree, bow, antlers, and the North Pole). Though this was an affordable palette at about $14 CDN, this palette has a lot of lovely festive details. It goes to show that affordable beauty products can still be well themed, thoughtful, and unique. It is time to take a peek inside this seasonal palette...

This holiday inspired shadow and face palette checks off all the boxes. Not only is it adorable and well themed, but it has an assortment of colours that are ideal for the holiday season. There are warm browns, shimmery golds, blues, and silvers. There are also two cheek products: a bold blush called All I Want and a shimmery highlight called Majestic. I like that there are both shimmer and matte shades, that there are light, dark, and medium shades, and that cheek products are included. This is well rounded and that means an entire makeup look can be created without reaching for other supplemental eyeshadows or blushes. When it comes to the quality, it is mostly impressive, with nice pigmentation for all of the shadows, both matte and shimmer. The blush is richly pigmented and adds a gorgeous flush of colour to the cheeks. The only "eh" product in this Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from Beauty Creations is the highlight. It has a pretty pink shimmery finish, but it is quite subtle and I prefer a highlight that is a little more dramatic. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.

It was easy to choose what colours to highlight with this makeup look. I have a serious obsession with the shade Sparkle, which is an icy blue shimmer. To create the look above, a bit of the matte blue, North Pole, was applied as a base.  Sparkle was applied on top and then the cool toned brown shade, Cozy, was worked through the crease. It was all blended out with a cool light brown shade, Sleigh Guide. I love that there are both warm and cool eyeshadows included in this palette. Whether you are looking for something icy and cool or warm and cozy...it is possible to create an unforgettable eyeshadow look.

What a way to start off the month of December. The Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from Beauty Creations was such a fun and affordable find. I love the theme, design, and colour story. It feels nice to create a holiday inspired look.

Are you excited about the month of December? What do you have planned in the next few weeks?
