pros and cons: kylie cosmetics face and body liquid highlighter

A few months back, I wrote about a raffle basket that I won with all sorts of beauty products inside. It included some Philosophy items, a Calvin Klein perfume, and a handful of Kylie Cosmetics products. One of those Kylie Cosmetics products was the Face and Body Liquid Highlighter in the shade Snow Princess. This must have been a leftover holiday item from last year, because I immediately recognized the cute little deer print on the packaging that was on the O'Deer Lip Kit in my collection. Since the holiday season is currently underway once more, it seemed only right to review this festive highlight.

The outer packaging is simple but sweet. As mentioned, it has that cute little deer print all over and then there are glittery letters to spell out KYLIE. The actual product comes in a light brown tube with holiday red lettering. According to the brand, the limited edition holiday collection Face and Body Liquid Highlighter is "a sheer, buildable, non-sticky formula for your face and body. It glides on effortlessly and leaves an illuminating glow. Available in Snow Princess, a light rose gold shade perfect for the holidays." There are certainly some pros and cons associated with this product or at least my experience with the product.

The pros? The Kylie Cosmetics liquid highlight looks beautiful and boasts a gorgeous rose gold colour. It blends out to be sheer, but shimmery. It is subtle enough but still makes a statement. It really is ideal for the holiday season. Whether you are wearing a Mariah Carey t-shirt or a party dress....the liquid highlight is a simple and effective add on. I like that it dries down completely and doesn't feel sticky or tacky at all. The cons? There is only one, but it is a significant one. The product smells bad. I don't know if it has to do with the age of the product before (this is from the last holiday season) but it smells like stinky plastic. As mentioned earlier in the post, this was included in a raffle basket of products and it is from the holiday collection last year. That means it isn't exactly brand spanking new. Despite this, I don't think it shouldn't have that kind of smell at this point. It has a nine month expiry on the back, but I only removed the seal recently. It is hard to say whether the scent is a product related problem or it is just a little too old, but it was certainly a disappointment. The smell is not ideal. If the brand releases a liquid highlight this holiday season and I come across a tester version, I will do what I can to find out whether the scent is product related or not. Clearly, this was not a successful raffle prize, but at least the packaging and theme was festive!

What liquid highlights do you like to use? Do you have any favourite products from Kylie Cosmetics?

    1. Oh yes this calendar is really cute and I love the stuff until now <3 Can't wait for the other days.
That's nice to hear that you're a winter person too <3 That was really hard to see after my holidays but now it's better. We don't need to fix much, so it's alright.
Thank you =) I love the earrings and the sparkly pants too. I love my new stuff :D
I always love to see what's inside of other advent calendars and so I love to post my own stuff too. All the calendars started really well.

    2. Yes, the smell is such a shame because the colour is so great for the holiday season!

  4. Products having a bad smell is indeed a significant con. As the product was still sealed, it can't have been past its sell by date, so it must be inherent to the product. What a shame! xxx

  5. Argh! Sorry to hear about the smell:( I actually like the Kylie line. I've only tried the lip products (her line is expensive for me TBH) but have given out sets to others for Christmas and everyone seem to love her line. I'll avoid this one though.
