revisited review: too faced let it snow globe set

For many years, the Too Faced holiday releases have been highlights for me. I love makeup in general, but especially love when that makeup has a festive theme. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there will be a Too Faced holiday set in my near future. This year, the theme was okay-ish but the prices are high and the products don't look overly thrilling to me. (An example? The You're a Gem Eye Makeup Set. It just doesn't wow or stand out at all.) Since it will not be a Merry Too Faced Christmas for me this year, it made sense to look back and do a revisited review of the Let It Snow Globes Set that was released in 2023.

As a reminder, the set came with three snow globe inspired palettes: the Peacock Face and Eye Palette, the Holiday Angel Face and Eye Palette, and the Taste of Christmas Face and Eye Palette. Now for the revisited review. In my previous post about the set, the pros and cons were highlighted. In short, the pros were the wonderfully festive theme and design and the cheek products. The cons were the inconsistent formula, low pigmentation, and the fact that the shadows weren't placed in the palettes well. Despite how adorable these little snow globes are...there were some pretty serious quality issues. And I am someone who has loved a lot of Too Faced holiday releases in the past. It has been about a year since the Let It Snow Globe set has entered my life and sadly, my feelings have not changed. Though there are some standout eyeshadows in some of the palettes, some of the shades are not well pigmented, are quite dry, and just feel lackluster. It takes a lot of work to really make the shadows come to life. However, the cheek products (there are two blushes and a highlight) are excellent and pair well with lots of different makeup looks. My experience with the Let It Snow Globes set was disappointing back then and it remains disappointing now. These are so cute and themed that I keep hoping the quality will somehow improve. It hasn't. But at least it is possible to create some decent makeup looks with a little elbow grease.

To create the makeup look above, it was the Peacock Face and Eye Palette that was used. That particular snow globe inspired palette has rosy neutrals inside. A dusty rose colour, Stocking was applied all over the lid, then a deeper rose shade, Elfed Up, was added to the outer corner. (Though that addition did not do much. That particular shade was very dry and lacked pigmentation.) The brown shadow, Calling Birds, was blended through the crease for a bit of contrast and then everything was blended with the soft matte pink, Boxes and Bows. Since the matte shadows were not performing that well, a bit of the pink shimmer, Nice List, was applied to the inner third of the eyelid. That shimmer wasn't overly dazzling but certainly improved the look. On a happier note, the blush Peach on Earth was used on the cheeks as was the Candlelight highlight from the Holiday Angel Face and Eye Palette. Was this makeup look groundbreaking? Not really. It was nice enough but took a lot of effort to make the eyeshadows perform decently. I was hopeful this so-so Too Faced holiday release was a misstep, but with the holiday collection this year looking so-so as well, I have to wonder who is making these decisions. I find myself feeling nostalgic for the Too Faced holiday palettes from years past! I used to look forward to what they released. Maybe those days are gone.

Have you tried any of the Too Faced holiday sets over the years? Do you like seasonally themed makeup?
