My first portable CD player was silver. I loved it dearly and used it all the time. It was only replaced when anti-skip technology came out. Suddenly, it was possible to listen to CDs on-the-go without them skipping. What a thrill! I still have my second portable CD player, though it doesn't work anymore. I feel very nostalgic about it, so that is one piece of old technology that it is difficult to part with. More recently, I asked my husband about a CD player for the shower (I used to have one of those, too. Am I completing dating myself with this post?) since I don't like to stream music. He couldn't find one, but found something even better: a new and improved portable CD player with built in speakers. It was an instant love and it has been keeping me company ever since. Keep reading to take a closer look at the CD player and some of the CDs that I am loving lately.
The portable CD player is fabulous. It is rechargeable (which is important, because it means that I am not wasting batteries, but it also mean that I have to remember to charge it every week or so) and straightforward to use. I like that I can repeat songs and that this has anti-skip technology. I especially like that it works as both a portable CD player with headphones and as a speaker. It is nice to have a mini CD player that I can take with me around the house. Shower, office, bedroom, and everywhere in between...this little CD player has seen it all. I know that streaming music is popular and that I am very much stuck in the past, but I like physical media and being able to play my CDs. Despite the small size, this portable CD player is sturdy and the speaker quality is impressive. This cost about $65 CDN, but it has been well worth the investment. Music is such an important part of my life and I love that listening to music is even more accessible to me than before. This is a must!
Now for some of the CDs that have been left next to my portable CD player in a stack. These are the albums that have been in heavy rotation for me lately. The first is Glorious from Kate Hudson. I am a fan of her acting work and some of her beauty related releases, so when I saw a copy of her new CD at the local music store, it was a must. I didn't know what to expect exactly, but the album is fantastic. I love the music so much and Kate has a great voice! It has been such a delight to listen to. The next CD that I have been listening to a lot is Mayhem from Lady Gaga. I love all of the songs so much, but my favourite is How Bad Do U Want Me. She really played with a lot of different styles on this album and the end result is fabulous.
Another CD that I love to listen to often is Start Again by Donny Osmond. Donny has so many incredible songs in his catalogue, but Start Again is probably my favourite album from him. Every song is fantastic, by Start Again and Beacon Girl are standouts. Next in this current music favourites list is the soundtrack to Wicked. I love the Broadway show, the movie, and the music. No One Mourns The Wicked is incredible, but in truth, every single song on the soundtrack is phenomenal. To finish it all off is Bing Crosby Sings Again by Bing Crosby. I have all sorts of albums from Bing Crosby and various compilations. I love Swinging On a Star and I Kiss Your Hand Madame. His voice is so dreamy. It just sweeps me away to another time and place entirely.

I had a pink one as a child and I felt so extreme cool with that :D I still love CD's but I don't have a CD player anymore, only my PlayStation 4.

ReplyDeleteI prefer cd's (and vinyl) to streamed music as well! I've still got my old portable cd-player in silver, and it's still in working order. I'd definitely buy a new one if it gave up the ghost! xxx
