kardashian/jenner week (kylie cosmetics holiday set review)

It is no secret that the Kardashians and Jenners are on my radar. They have been featured many times on my blog and YouTube channel over the years. Thanks to their always on trend style and bold makeup looks (like this one, inspired by Kim Kardashian's Snapchat)...they are many beauty enthusiasts dream come true. Which is why it only makes sense that it is Kardashian/Jenner week here on the creation of beauty is art. My last post was a Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty haul and a review of two mini liquid lipsticks. Today, it is all about the Kylie Holiday Try It Kit. Find out what is inside, how the product perform, and what items stand out from the rest.

Inside the Holiday Try It Kit + Packaging Review

First thing is first. What is actually included in the Kylie Cosmetics Holiday Try It Kit from Ulta Beauty? This set retailed for $49 USD and was an Ulta exclusive item. There were five items in all, which was perfect. I have long been curious about other items from Kylie Cosmetics, since I have only ever ordered the liquid lipsticks. So this was new territory for me. I wanted to try as many other items as possible so I could decide whether they may or may not be worth ordering from the website in future. So...what was inside of this Holiday Try It Kit? It included:

  • Pressed Powder Duo in Quartz and Topaz
  • Blush in We're Going Shopping
  • Lip Liner in Ice Latte
  • Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Bare
  • Matte Lipstick in Almost Friday

The names themselves are totally adorable and I love that there is a decent variety of products inside this holiday set. Right from the get-go, I was most excited to try the blush and matte lipstick. As for the packaging? It is simple but absolutely beautiful. I love the soft pink shade and the stars and raining glitter all over the outer packaging. The packaging on the products themselves is quite nice. It is sturdy, clean, and functional - not to mention aesthetically pleasing. All of the products in this set, minus the liquid lipstick, have the same pretty pink colour as the outer packaging. It looks lovely.

Review: Kylie Cosmetics Blue in We're Going Shopping

As I mentioned earlier, the blush was something I was especially eager to try. Why? I have seen so many blushes and highlighters on the Kylie Cosmetics website. They all looked gorgeous but I wasn't really sure how they would perform. Would the pigmentation be impressive? Would the texture be smooth and easy to blend? There were so many questions. Thankfully, one of the blushes was included in this Holiday Try It Kit. The shade We're Going Shopping is a gorgeous warm peach shade. It also has the signature Kylie drip effect printed in the blush itself. The texture is smooth and this shade looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. It is warm, wearable, and flatters many different types of makeup looks. I've found myself reaching for it on a fairly regular basis since adding it to my collection.

Review: Pressed Powder Duo in Quartz and Topaz

Also included in this set is a duo eyeshadow. The small size makes it perfect to toss into your purse or take with you for travel. It is possible to create a simple and pretty everyday makeup look with the two shades. There is a medium brown, which is Topaz and a golden shimmer, which is Quartz. These have a lovely texture and a solid amount of pigmentation. They also blend really easily. Both shadows could also double for cheek products in a pinch. However, due to the small size of the Pressed Powder Duo, it would take a careful hand to apply the proper amount of product.

Review: Lip Liner, Liquid Lipstick, and Matte Lipstick

This Holiday Try It set also included three different lip products. Since Kylie Cosmetics is known for their lip products...this was a fabulous choice. It also gave me the opportunity to try out a more traditional lipstick from the line. To start, the Lip Liner in the shade Ice Latte is fabulous, creamy, and pigmented. The colour also really compliments both the liquid lipstick and matte lipstick shades. Next up was the Velvet Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bare. It is a gorgeous, warm, peachy neutral shade that works effortlessly with the other products in this set. Like the other liquid lipsticks I've tried from the brand...it is long-lasting and ultra pigmented. As for the Matte Lipstick in the shade Almost Friday, the colour is lovely, it has great staying power, and doesn't dry out the lips. When it comes to matte formulas, I am always a little leery. Mainly because so many of them can feel tight or dry on the lips. However, this matte lipstick goes on nicely and doesn't feel remotely uncomfortable.

Makeup Look feat. Kylie Cosmetics Holiday Try It Kit

All in all, this was a really solid selection of makeup from Kylie Cosmetics. Not only was it a great way to try out different products from the line but all of the products worked well together. The warm neutrals are easy to wear, flattering, and would suit a variety of makeup preferences. You can keep it simple or supplement with additional items to create a more dramatic look. After trying out some of the products I hadn't before (like the blush and matte lipstick), I am eager to place an online order sometime in the not-so-distant future.
