spooky season makeup items (mini drugstore haul)

The month of September is coming to a close...and that means the official start of spooky season is on the horizon. Though I have been wearing Halloween themed t-shirts throughout the month of September and have already made impressive progress on my seasonal movie watch list, October is the month when spooky and scary thrive. Even beauty products are ready to make October a month to remember. Here are some drugstore items that were recently added to my makeup collection.

Nail Products from Quo Beauty. It is true that I have been a lot more selective about my beauty product purchases in recent months. Though there are still odds and ends that have been added to my makeup collection, for the most part, my focus has been on using what I have already. However, it is hard to resist seasonal displays of fun, colourful, and dramatic items. I love holidays and have such a fun time with makeup in the fall. So, it was nice to add a few unexpected items into the rotation. The first few are from a Canadian makeup brand, Quo Beauty. There are two Glow In the Dark Nail Colours: Ghoulish and Sweet Treat. Both can be worn alone or layered over another nail polish. (It is currently the pink colour, Sweet Treat, that I am wearing.) On their own, the colour is faint, which is why it is fun to wear them over another nail polish for a fun little extra. Then there are the Press-On Nails. These are long and are in an almond shape. As you can see, there are spider web designs all over. I am planning to dress as Wednesday Addams for Halloween this year, so those nails will be the perfect addition.

Wet n Wild Eye Products. When it comes to Halloween themed products, Wet n Wild is always a standout. I have been a fan of the brand for many years now (there were several posts here on the creation of beauty is art. way back in 2011). The products are affordable, the quality is impressive, and the releases are a whole lot of fun. Take the two products shown above as an example. The first is the Fantasy Makers Eye & Face Palette in Poisoned Forest. I was instantly intrigued by the warm reds and the bold greens. This is a palette that I have been using a lot lately - and I am completely obsessed with that brownish green shade. It looks amazing worn on its own, but can also be paired with some of the other green eyeshadow shades in the palette. Something else I love? Even though these colours are well suited for the fall season, the greens and reds would also be ideal for Christmas inspired looks. I expect this to be in heavy rotation over the next several months. Then there is the Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Run For The Hills. This matte green is gorgeous and pairs well with the colours in the eyeshadow palette.

Quo Beauty Products for the Lips and Cheeks. Finishing off this spooky season makeup haul are two more products from the seasonal Quo Beauty line. The first is the Blush Balm in the shade Midnight Bloom. Unlike the other Blush Balm that I have tried from the brand, this is the most incredible combination of pink, purple, and gold glitter. I have been layering this on top of my blush so my cheeks are always sparkly and fun. (Life is too short. Glitter is a must!) I am sad that this is a seasonal release, because I would like to be able to wear this long-term. And the last item in this mini drugstore haul is the Midnight Spell Lip Kit, which comes with a Lip Defining Pencil and Liquid Lipstick. The colour is vampy, bold, and ideal for this time of year.

Do you like seasonal makeup releases? What kind of beauty items do you reach for during spooky season?

The red and green eyeshadow palettes look particularly pretty,
both for Halloween and, I agree, for other occasions, including Christmas! :D
I also LOVE the liquid eyeliner's name 'Run For The Hills'! :D

My sincere apologies for not having done a Halloween post since my October 31st, 2018 post titled:
Last Minute Halloween Excuse Post with Old Full Drag Selfies and Thanks to Commenters ;-/ xx :D

  4. AWESOME! I love the polishes and palette and the fake nails. Can't wait to see them all :-D

I bought a nice Glow polish by Essence the other day there.

The nail polish looks a bit sheer, I'd maybe try a wee white under it to make it easier!
