Happy Canada Day! Across the country, there will be barbecues, get togethers, and fireworks. July 1st is always a time to celebrate where I live...but the celebration feels even more important this year. For many months, the President of the United States has made threats against Canada, referring to it as the "51st State." There have also been illogical tariffs implemented that have harmed hard working people in both Canada and the United States. Travelers visiting the US are encouraged to use caution, take burner phones, and delete social media apps. A lot has changed since the start of the year. That being said, it has been meaningful to see Canadians come together against these threats. For example, there is the Buy Canadian movement, which has benefited Canadian brands as well as non-US brands from around the globe. It focuses on spending thoughtfully. In a society that is often individualistic and divisive, it has been nice to see people come together and focus on the collective good.
This Canada Day, my husband and I will be taking a little road trip to Ottawa to check out a DJ that he likes as well as a concert with some amazing Canadian artists and some fireworks. There will also be good food and time spent together. And maybe even a stop at a themed bakery along the way. I am hopeful that this will be a wonderful Canada Day for everyone. To all those celebrating - Happy Canada Day! Wishing you all a fantastic day from start to finish, however you choose to celebrate. To everyone else that comes across this post, my hope is that you have an excellent day and are able to take a moment to be grateful for all that is good. Sending everyone well wishes this Canada Day and every other day. And remember....Elbows Up!
What do you have planned for today? Are there any summer plans you are looking forward to?
Happy Canada Day. Have a good one Shannon :-D
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day!!! I am starting to wish that Canada could make the United States one of its provinces, wresting its control away from the con artists and charlatans running amok in the U.S.. I feel embarrassed and ashamed that the Orange Turd has been using my country as a base for his corrupt world-wide crime spree - and that he has managed to bribe so many in media and in government to be a part of it. Eek!
ReplyDeleteHave a delightful Canada Day!

Boa tarde. Concordo totalmente.
DeleteBoa tarde. Uma excelente mês de julho minha querida amiga.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day to you! I hope you had a wonderful day. This year has been insane and the orange idiot even more maddening. I've loved Canada's and Mexico's response to him. Utterly brilliant. I just wish our Australian PM would tell him to f*** off too!

Your road trip to Ottawa for the DJ, concert, and fireworks sounds like so much fun, and good food and time together are always the best ingredients for a special day. A stop at a themed bakery sounds like the perfect cherry on top.
