technic nail varnish collection (seasonal nail polish review)

Christmas Day is often associated with gifts, but it seems that I have been spoiled ahead of time this year. When it comes to seasonally themed items, my mom firmly believes that these should be given beforehand so those items can be used during the holiday season. It makes sense! At any rate, that is how the Technic Nail Varnish Collection entered my life. It came in adorable holiday themed packaging and had six shimmery polishes. Ready to take a closer look and find out how these nail polishes performed? Keep reading for all the details and for a simple holiday themed nail look.

The Technic Nail Varnish Collection certainly had a lot of appeal right from the start. It came in Christmas Cracker inspired packaging (so cute) and there were little red bow hair ties on the sides. Not to mention, the six nail polishes tucked away inside. In terms of the polishes themselves, these are mini bottles and there is a nice variety of colours. This includes a berry colour, sparkly orange, icy blue, green, red, and silver. Some of the formulas are metallic (berry, blue, green, and silver) and the others have more of a glitter finish (orange and red). The red, green, and silver are absolutely perfect for this time of year...and that icy blue will be wonderful once the winter weather really settles in. (I already envision a silver and blue look.) That berry colour would be great for Valentine's Day and that orange makes me think of spring and summer. Though this is primarily a winter set for me, there are some colours that would suit other seasons. The only downside is that there are no nail polish names listed. It just says "nail varnish" on each of the little bottles. It is a small detail, but names are always appreciated.

Though there were a lot of really beautiful shades to choose from, the red and silver were the easy first choice. When it comes to holiday nails, I normally start with red and silver and then move into green and gold as Christmas Day approaches. How did the nail polishes perform? The red is really beautiful and shimmery. It has such a nice finish. Though the first coat went on thin, only two coats were needed to complete the look. The silver polish went on much easier and had a thicker formula. It has a really gorgeous metallic finish and certainly makes a statement. As for longevity, there was a bit of wear around the tips after two days. Something else that was interesting was the scent. The polishes had a very strong "nail polish scent" long after the polish dried. I'm talking days. Normally, that scent fades in a day or so. Not with the Technic Nail Varnish Collection!

Overall, my feelings about this holiday nail polish collection from Technic are mixed. The packaging is fabulous, the shade selection is stellar, and I adore the different nail polish finishes. On the other hand, there was a bit of wear and the nail polish scent lingers for far too long. Despite the cons, this is still a cute set and it is a wonderful way to embrace the holiday season.

Have you tried any of the Technic nail polishes? What do you think of this seasonal nail look?
