too faced christmas cookie house party collection (review part two)

The Christmas Cookie House Party collection from Too Faced has an awful lot going on. It includes three mini products, a face palette, and two different eyeshadow palettes. Which is why my review is broken up into two different parts. My last post focused on reviewing the mini products, the face palette, and the glitter eyeshadow palette. (You can read those reviews here.) Today is all about digging into that large breakaway eyeshadow palette. It has twenty eyeshadows in a variety of finishes...and lots of holiday glitz. Take a look inside, see swatches, and check out a recent makeup look created with the eyeshadows and a Gingerbread Man liquid lipstick from Too Faced.

Review: Too Faced Christmas Cookie Eyeshadow Palette

Just like the other items included in this set, this eyeshadow palette is well themed. The outer packaging is pink, glittery, and has lots of candy inspired decorations. It has a magnetic closure and then the inside is just as themed as the outside. There is a cartoon illustration of the two cookie figures holding festive cocktails and a shiny gold background to really make the shadows stand out. In addition to the lovely packaging, there is that smell! The entire palette smells like a fabulous festive Christmas cookie. It of course, ties in perfectly with the theme, and makes the collection feel extra special and well thought out. The eyeshadow names are also excellent. Each one is funny, thoughtful, and themed.

As for the shade selection and variety, this high end eyeshadow palette is a winner. There are exciting pops of colour (the purple shade, That's My Jam and the deep green, Drink Up, Grinches are two examples). There are warm metallic shades (Santa's Favorite, Cinnamagic, and Easy Bake Lovin'). There are easy to wear neutrals (Sled No One Ever, Oh, Snap!, and Secret Santa). There are dynamic glitter shades (Snow Flake and Tinsel Town). Yes, there is a little bit of everything happening here. If you want to create warm, glittery holiday shades, with thoughtful pops of colour...you can. I love the variety of finishes, the many different colours, and the fact that you can create so many different eyeshadow looks without needing to pull in additional colours or eyeshadow palettes.

Here are the eyeshadow shades swatched, row by row. This will give you a better idea of what you can expect from the pigmentation and overall colour payoff....

Holiday Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

There is definitely a ton of colour payoff with some of these shades. The shimmers, in particular! The shimmery shades are richly pigmented and apply beautifully. The matte shades are also impressive. They are soft, buttery, and blend with ease. In terms of the glitter eyeshadow shades, these are also wonderful. Unlike the glitters in the small palette that came with this set...these apply well and don't lead to fall out. There truly is not one eyeshadow in the bunch that doesn't excel. Normally with an eyeshadow palette, there are at least a few shades that under perform or are only so-so. Not the case!

Every single colour is nicely pigmented, easy to work with, and looks absolutely beautiful. I am so impressed with the formula, the level of pigmentation, the variety of finishes, and the colour selections themselves. This is a palette that works well during the holiday season...but can easily be used throughout the year as well. All in all, I am ridiculously impressed with this palette. Though the additional items included in this Too Faced holiday set were largely good, this particular palette is really what makes the collection exceptional. It works so well and the eyeshadows are stunning.

Makeup Look Using the Too Faced Holiday Eyeshadow Palette

For the look pictured above, I wanted to create something sparkly but warm. Thankfully there is a lot to work with in this particular palette. I used Oh, Snap! through the crease then applied Ginger Bells all over the lid. I layered Cinnamagic on top and blended Nooks & Cranberries along the outer corner and underneath the lower lash line. On the lips was the stunning Melted Matte liquid lipstick in Gingerbread Man. That shade in particular is incredible and it really pulls together this fabulously festive makeup look.

There are many other eyeshadow combinations that I have been trying lately. (In fact, it is my mission to use this palette every single day until Christmas.) My favourite for mornings when I am in a rush but still want to look put together? Apply Tinsel Town (a shimmery holographic shade) all over the lid and blend out with What A Batch or Oh, Snap! Then run a little bit of Nooks & Cranberries underneath the lash line. I love the fact that I can create really quick and easy looks or do something a little more layered and complex. Whatever I decide, the outcome will be truly fabulous. This is one eyeshadow palette that I am really excited about. It is absolutely incredible.
