beauty draws us with a single hair.

When it comes to hairstyles, I am no pro. In fact, even the simplest hairstyles turn into a disaster when I try. This is why I stick with the basics: curly, straight, ponytail, bun. Anything else just ends up being a total hair nightmare!

Since I am constantly rocking a bun, I decide to kick it up a notch and try a hair donut. This one is from Goody and was $3CDN. The instructions were simple enough to follow and I think that it turned out okay....but I still need some practice! But hey, practice makes perfect, right? For a first attempt, I'm happy with the result. It added a ton of volume to my hair and felt really secure. That bun was not moving! I just need to work on making it look neater and super sleek. Next time, maybe!

Here are the super easy step-by-step instructions to achieving a voluminous bun with a hair donut!

Step 1: Pull hair into a ponytail on the top or back of your head
Step 2: Pull ponytail through the hair donut
Step 3: Use bobby pins to arrange your hair around the donut and pin into place

Here are some pictures of my first attempt....messy but secure!

Have you tried a hair donut before? Any tips or tricks to share?

xo Shannon

  18. It does look professional! I am the same with hair do's, I can't even make the french braid that I absolutely love, so always going with a pony tail or with my hair open.

  32. I usually loop it through and then literally roll it down :) I find that this keeps all the fly aways down and you can go without using bobby pins at all!
