i will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Christmas has always been the greatest time of year for me. When my mom was growing up, they didn't celebrate any holidays. As a result, she always made sure that every holiday was memorable for my siblings and I.

Whenever I think about Christmas, I get that fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I love the build up - finding the perfect gifts for the people you love, Christmas music on the radio, watching Christmas movies with my family as the snow falls outside, red and green everywhere, bits of tinsel on the carpet, and the unforgettable glow of the Christmas tree.

I know that it is still November, but I simply couldn't wait any longer to post about Christmas! Here are some pictures and quotes to get you in the holiday spirit.

"Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions
of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures
of his youth, and transport the traveler back to
his own fireside and quiet home!
- Charles Dickens

"Maybe Christmas, the Grinch thought, doesn't come from a store."
- Dr. Seuss

"At Christmas, play and make good cheer, for Christmas comes but once a year."
- Thomas Tusser

Are you excited for Christmas yet?

Ever since I got my new camera, I have been trying to take more pictures of my life - from when I go out, to the little things in my every day life. I wanted to share some of them with you, so here are pictures of my life lately.

a Christmas shopper's complaint is one of long-standing.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the incredibly sweet comments on my last post. It's so hard trying to balance everything, but it's good knowing that there are other people out there in the same boat.

For all of you in the US, I hope you have a great Black Friday! Whether you are hunting for deals in stores or online, now is a great time to get started on your Christmas shopping started.

I live in Canada, and we don't have Black Friday here. Over the past few years, however, stores and websites here have started picking up on this tradition. So, wherever you live, it seems like now is a great time to get some good deals.

Here are some statistics to think about this year!

Are you shopping for Black Friday?

you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

November has been a busy month, but I am trying to make the most of every moment.

Lately I feel like I need to sit back and relax. In more recent months, I have been so focused on being productive and getting things done, that I haven't had much time to take it all in.

I have always wanted to be a writer. For the last six months, I have been working on freelance writing jobs in addition to my regular job. It's so important that I build up my resume and get my name out there. It's hard to believe that a year ago, I was interning, and now people are actually paying me to write. This past year has been incredibly rewarding. For the first time, I really feel that I am taking steps forward in my life, rather than remaining stagnant.

One thing I do long for is free time. I miss watching excessive amounts of TV, reading all day, and seeing friends whenever I like. Right now, I am trying to focus on making the most of my time, and letting myself enjoy it, instead of thinking about something productive I could be doing.

Building my career is my priority, but I am ready to try bringing some balance back to my life.

How do you find time for everything?

my sunglasses are like my guitar.

Okay, confession time: I am a sunglasses addict. I don't know how it happened or when, but somehow they have become my favourite fashion accessory.

Recently, I was lucky enough to receive a stunning pair of sunglasses from Firmoo. These sunglasses are unlike any other pair I own - they are dramatic, futuristic, trendy, and stylish. I just love the purple tinted lenses! The sunglasses also fit perfectly, which is probably my favourite thing about Firmoo - they fit the glasses specifically to your face.

For those of you who don't know, Firmoo is a company that focuses on fashionable and affordable glasses. From prescription to fashion glasses, they have it all. The styles are diverse, beautiful and are always the highest quality. They have classic frame styles as well as bolder, more fashion forward styles. There really is something for everyone!

Glasses aren't just for people with vision problems. Fashion glasses are a must-have accessory as well! From sunglasses to stylish frames, you can look fashionable in an instant.  They can add sex appeal, vintage flair, or just the right amount of geek chic! It is easy to update your look with Firmoo. They also offer a virtual try-on system that makes it easy to find your perfect pair of glasses!

If their high quality and great customer service wasn't enough, Firmoo offers new customers the first pair of glasses completely free. You can't do any better than that!

If you want to start browsing their collection, head on over to Firmoo! Also, be sure to check out their Facebook page at Firmoo Glasses.

If you like the ones I'm wearing, be sure to check them out!

happiness comes in all colours of the rainbow.

In my birthday post, I showed you the newest additions to my makeup collection. I was lucky enough to receive the Andy Warhol kit from NARS and the Head of the Class set from Hello Kitty. Now that I have been using these products for the last little while, I wanted to share my thoughts on them!

Andy Warhol set from NARS:

Products: Illuminator, Nail Polish, and Lip Gloss

Swatches:

Review:
As you can see from the swatches above, the illumiantor is a gorgeous silver colour. When blended into the skin, it gives off a shimmery finish. I love putting a small amount of this product on the cheeks to add a dramatic final touch! This shimmery liquid product is great for fall and winter. This is definitely the stand out product from this set.

The nail polish colour is a rich, deep purple. The colour payoff is fantastic, and when I painted my toe nails, I only needed one coat. The lip gloss is in NARS' most popular shade - Orgasm. This colour looks wonderful and can warm up any makeup look.

Overall, I was pleased with this set. The illuminator is definitely the selling point here though!

Head of the Class set from Hello Kitty:

Products: Four Eyeshadows and One Blush

Swatches:

Review:

I am in love! This has been my go-to palette lately. First of all, the packaging is super cute - who doesn't love a Nerdy Hello Kitty?! Mostly I am loving one particular eyeshadow colour and the blush. The only down side, is that none of the eyeshadows have names. I will do my best to describe them....

The eyeshadows are beautiful. Very well pigmented and fantastic colours. The light beige colour is quite pretty, as is the light pink. I confess that I haven't used the green shade very much. However, my favourite eyeshadow of the moment is that deep purple-ish brown colour. It looks amazing. I love using it in the crease as a way to add definition without always reaching for a dark brown or black shade. It is slightly more subtle and classic, but just as dynamic. I cannot get over how much I love this colour! It makes the palette a massive success in my eyes.

The blush colour is a beautiful burnt rose shade. It is quite pigmented, so a little goes a long way. It has a nice glowy finish to it, which looks wonderful on the skin. I have been reaching for this blush a lot recently.

Overall, I am enjoying these new products! Have you tried any of them yet? What did you think?

style is a simple way of saying complicated things.

As much as I love gorgeous fall colours, I hate fall weather! As the temperature continues to drop, I keep missing the summer weather.

When it comes to staying stylish for fall, I have been fighting my urge to live in sweatpants and hoodies. On the plus side, there are certain pieces in my wardrobe that make me want to take off my sweats and glam it up! Here are some of my favourite pieces of clothing to wear this fall.

Peplum Tops from Attitude

Leather Skirt from H&M

And my favourite fall piece...Knitted Sweater with Leather Sleeves from Attitude

What articles of clothing do you love wearing most in the fall?

the only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.

Let’s be honest – Kristen Stewart’s style can be a hit or miss. When it comes to her red carpet fashion choices, I find myself in awe or recoiling in horror.

When I saw pictures of Kristen at the premiere of On The Road at the AFI Fest in LA, I truly fell in love with her look. Not everyone will agree with me on this one. For me, this red carpet look was a knockout! I loved the blend of masculine and feminine style. Kristen looked strong and daring.

What I Love:

The cut of the top is dramatic and different. The peek-a-boo flesh looked sultry but not too revealing. I loved the simple accessory to add just a hint of glamour, along with the flawless, classic cut of the pants. This look was finished off with simple heels and incredible styling. I loved the sleek, simple updo, and the fall inspired makeup - that gorgeous brown smokey eye and dramatic lipstick!

What do you think of Kristen’s outfit? Do you love it as much as I do?

Recently, I have been obsessing over the pieces at The Sterling Star. They are all so gorgeous! I really love the elegance and dramatic beauty. All of the accessories are inspired by fashionable and antique piece. I personally really love the Royal Jewelry pieces. They are truly stunning!

laine blogger award

I hope your week is going well so far. I am trying to be as productive as possible, but it's difficult sometimes! Onto today's post: I am really excited, because I was recently nominated for the Laine Blogger award by the wonderful Tracey at Marienni Blog!

Rules:
Tag the blogger who awarded you.
Answer the 5 questions below.
Award the Laine Blogger Award to 5 of your favorite bloggers.

1.  What is your current beauty obsession?
Lately, I am really loving Rimmel's Clean Finish foundation. I have tried a lot of different foundations, both high-end and drugstore, but lately I am loving this one the most! It brightens the look of my skin and adds a warm, natural glow. I always feel confident about my makeup when I am wearing it!

2.  What is one beauty item you wished you owned?
At the moment, I am really wanting to add the Naked Palette 2 to my collection. I have the original Naked palette and I absolutely love it. Being a fan of more neutral colours, I would love to play with this one and see what I can come up with!

3.  What is your favorite post to read/write about?
My favourite posts to read about are probably either makeup reviews/swatches, or more personal posts. I love finding out about makeup products and people's lives! My favourite posts to write are probably inspiration posts. It's great to share things that inspire me!

4.  What inspired you to become a blogger?
I have always wanted to be a writer. I was growing frustrated with the lack of progress toward that goal, and ended up creating my blog as a way to motivate myself and get my writing out there.

5.  What nail polish are you wearing right now?
Where I work, we aren't allowed polish on our nails (which upsets me greatly!) but on my toes I am currently wearing Meet Me At Sunset by Essie.

My nominations for the Laine Blogger Award are:
