the last time i saw Paris, her heart was warm and gay.

Sometimes you fall in love with a movie the way you fall in love with a city. And sometimes, you do both.

Midnight In Paris is a remarkable film. On the surface, this movie is a story about love and romance. It focuses on an engaged couple and their differing views. Gil (Owen Wilson) wants to give up his successful Hollywood writing career to write novels. He also wants to move to Paris after his marriage to Inez (Rachel McAdams). The film shows the unraveling of their relationship, as well as Gil's own personal growth.

I recently had the privilege of watching this movie, and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.

Perhaps the most compelling part of this film was the idea of the golden age. Every night at midnight, Gil is able to travel back to Paris in the 1920s. Not only does he interact with his literary heroes, but the entire concept of what the golden age truly is, is explored.

I am completely caught up in the idea that we are always looking back to another time as the ideal time to have lived. That sense of nostalgia for a time we never knew, is heartbreaking.

Midnight In Paris is one of the best films I have seen in a very long time. We may always be looking back at a better time, but this movie reminds us of the beauty in the present.
