30 day beauty challenge: day 8

As I mentioned in my last post, my work Christmas party was last night. The party itself had it's moments, but it went on way too long. My friend and I made it fun though. Overall, it was a good day. I will do my best to post some pictures soon. Today is day 8 of the 30 day beauty challenge, and today's challenge is: A Photo of You Getting Fashion Wrong.....a very easy challenge for me.

I haven't always loved fashion and makeup the way I do now. Well, that isn't entirely true. I loved it, I just didn't think I could be the kind of girl who could actually wear it. I hid myself away in over-sized clothes, never wore makeup, and tied my hair in a ponytail. Every. Single. Day. I was so self-conscious about the way I looked, that I tried to hide. I never believed I could feel pretty or important.

Over the years, I have realized how much I can be. Makeup and fashion has helped give me a confidence I never imagined; It has allowed me to channel my creativity, and to explore both who I am and who I want to be.

So, this is me, then.

When did your interest in fashion and beauty begin?

  1. Omg...I have some pics of me in junior high too totally wearing the baggy clothes/over sized t-shirts etc. Braces didn't help :) Late high school and college is when I really started getting into fashion and makeup! X

  3. Im sure I have some pics of myself just like that around. I was always interested in fashion and make up from a young age-living with my grandmother who was very glamourous and took great pride in her appearance. She always loved buying magazines and buying designer clothes-which in those days were far cheaper. I remember her buying YSL, Givenchy and Pucci. Though I still had years of disastrous fashion until I got comfortable with my own style.

  7. I was just wandering how your 30 day beauty challenge was going and I'm glad to hear it's going well. My interest in beauty and fashion started at a young age with my mother when she gave me the best advice, "You can wear the same pair of jeans each day of the week and no one would know. It's all about how you accessorize!"

  8. I wouldn't call this getting fashion wrong. It just looks like what other kids would wear. But it's nice to know that you don't have those insecurities anymore.

  14. well, my style changed A LOT, through all this years...
I started with a tom boy look at 7, I used to play football with the guys (EVEN THOUGH I DANCE BALLET SINCE I WAS 3) then I started to get girlier and girlier until I was around 10, I had a weird 80's+90's look... At 13 I started to dress up to the 70's and now I'm a vintage freak... considering I'm 14 I've got plenty of time to change again and again and again hahahahahahahaha(if I don't die tomorrow or something)

  17. I feel you. I was the exact same way, but with me it had a lot to do with my weight. I had my hair in a pony tail and wore jeans and tees all the time. Oversized, big clothes. I've been there. Thank God for knowledge of make-up and fashion. Otherwise it'd be a dull adult year lol

  18. This post has encouraged me so much, because I am self conscious about my body and the clothes that I wear too. I dislike clothes that fit my body, because I'm afraid of people judging me.I just started wearing makeup my freshman year of college and I just got out of the tshirts and jeans phase.I do wear it sometimes when I feel uncomfortable with myself. But I don't want to write my life story I just wanted to let you know how you have brightened my day!
