It's funny how things change. Back in my twenties, having concerts, vacations, and nights out with friends on my calendar made life feel special and exciting. These days, the best thing to see on my calendar is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. It gives me a sense of peace and ease to know that my sleep schedule won't be interrupted, I won't have to be "on," and I can just relax into the regular routine for a little bit. Despite enjoying days where there is nothing different planned...special plans do arise from time to time. They can be a lot of fun, even though their presence on my calendar can stress me out a little bit, too. Since there have been a handful of such events in the last while, I though I would share some of the highlights. Though I want to be a hermit a lot of the time, my loved ones insist I need to be out and about. Here is to being out and about!
A Day at the Zoo. For my birthday, my husband, his mom (who also has the same birthday as me) and I all went to the zoo. We thought it would be a chilly fall day, but it was uncharacteristically warm for late October. Despite the warm weather, we were able to walk around and see all sorts of animals. The leaves had started to change colours, so the views were spectacular. At the time of our visit, there were also Halloween decorations everywhere. Since I didn't do too much for Halloween this year, it was nice to see all of the seasonal decorations and walkthroughs. There were lots of wonderful animals to see, but the standout was the giraffe. I just love seeing giraffes in real life. It was a long day (so much walking) but a fun one, too.
A trip to the zoo for your birthday with family must have been a wonderful way to celebrate, especially with the colorful fall leaves and festive decorations. Jesse McCartney’s concert sounds like an absolute blast—there’s something magical about hearing your favorite songs live. And your shopping trip with your mom sounds so fun! Holiday decor and seasonal goodies always make this time of year extra special.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I think I lean toward having a balance—some days with plans to look forward to, and other days where nothing much is on the calendar. It’s nice to find peace in both!
Wishing you a happy weekend: read my new post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/11/jade-and-mia-sunglasses-by-dima-eyewear.html
That definitely sounds like a good approach! I am so glad you have a balance between plans and staying home. That sounds nice! :D
DeleteDolly Parton holiday decor items sounds really great.
ReplyDeleteI think I understand you well, you don't chase after everything anymore and you appreciate the peace and quiet.

They are so fun! And yes...you completely understand. Thank you for that <3
DeleteI have never seen a giraffe in my life, happy birthday, new years mean new happiness.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Hopefully you will be able to! Thank you very much <3
DeleteYou can see that you really have a lot going on. There are many different activities but all of this will be beautiful memories someday. I understand you, because a quiet life and melancholy have their charm. It's worth finding balance in life :) Warmest greetings!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I need to remember that these are memories being made, too! <3
DeleteI tend to be a hermit like you, but lately I'm having cabin fever as I'm at home so much due to Jos being unwell. I'll be putting a trip to the zoo on my menu, however, it's been ages since I've been. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat is totally understandable! I hope you are able to visit the zoo soon!
DeleteMuito tempo que não vou a um Zoológico. Aqui do Rio de Janeiro, era o melhor do Brasil. Obrigado por dividir seu maravilhoso passeio, conosco.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to visit one soon! <3
DeleteI always enjoy visiting the zoo :-D
ReplyDeleteRight? It is so much fun!
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of giraffe from the zoo.
When I was a kid, other kids used to make fun of me by calling me a giraffe because I was tall. It never bothered me, though. I love giraffees!
Oh my goodness! They were clearly just jealous of your amazing height!
