seasonal favourites: scents, movies, and accessories

Somehow, the month of December is halfway over. This time of year always seems to move too fast. The endless to-do lists, decorating, shopping, wrapping, cards, and all the rest seem to make the days zip by in a flash. So, it is nice to pause and reflect on the little things that add magic and wonder to the holiday season. These are some of my seasonal favourites for 2025.

Holiday Inspired Scents. The easiest way to make the holiday season feel special? Scents. There are all sorts that have been making me smile this month (more on that in my next blog post) but two stand out. The first is a candle from Goodies by DW Home. I have tried a few different candles and essential oil blends from this brand and am often impressed. The Gingerbread Latte candle is one that I found last year - and was thrilled to find again this year. It has a cute rubber decor item on the lid and a gingerbread sticker on the front of this one-wick candle. I love all things gingerbread and burned through this candle way too fast last year. What a thrill to find it again! The second scent that is making the season bright is the Peppermint Bark Truffle Fine Fragrance Mist from Bath and Body Works. The fragrance notes are peppermint chocolate cake, crushed candy cane, and white chocolate. Essentially, my home smells like chocolate and mint on a regular basis. I have used this so many times already as both a room spray and a body mist. A quick spritz of Peppermint Bark Truffle and life feels (and smells) sweeter.

Fantastic Seasonal Movies. When it comes to Christmas movies, it is a full on obsession for me. I have so many and watch them throughout the year. Christmas movies, cartoons, and specials are my safe place. (Last night, while out and about, there were these Christmas movie sets with 24 movies in each collection. I bought two different collections and am eager to watch every single one.) Some of my seasonal favourites include: Road Trip For Ralphie and Shaun the Sheep: We Wish Ewe a Merry Christmas. The first is a documentary that was made by the owners of my favourite store, RetroFestive. I order items from the store each holiday season and was able to visit their physical location once. The documentary focuses on the different locations that were used to create A Christmas Story. This is a documentary that I was able to watch on streaming - and I was finally able to track down a physical copy. Such a thrill. Another seasonal favourite is a Shaun the Sheep DVD with cute Christmas and winter themed episodes. The animation style is adorable and I absolutely love all of the characters.

Themed Accessories and Nail Polish. Some other seasonal favourites? Fun little add-ons. Holiday themed accessories make any outfit feel extra special. My mom gifted me this cute Grinch themed purse. It has red and green stripes and all of the most iconic characters from the classic cartoon. This is a great little purse to take out while running errands or heading to a movie. My mom also gifted me these cute pom pom drop earrings. The first set shown has Christmas trees and the second set has candy canes. These are so much fun! And finishing off this seasonal favourites post is this mirror effect red nail polish that I found recently. Not only is the shade of red ideal for this time of year, the finish is beautiful. It is a nice way to feel festive.

  2. This period I'm rewatching (for like the 10000th time) all my fav Christmas Movies!
And, of course, I'm open to new ones (even if, in my opinion the 90s were been the golden age of Christmas movies)!
And, like you, I'm totally into Christmas themed clothing!^^ It's so fun!
About the scented candle, my faves are usually the vanilla ones, but definitely gingerbread means Christmas!

  4. The Grinch themed purse is so cute! I'm also a sucker for scented candles but unfortunately I can no longer enjoy them as it seems our cat is allergic :-( xxx
