my seasonal reading list (fall 2025)

There is nothing better than a theme. Since my mind is already focused on fall, it only made sense to bring that theme into my reading list. I have taken the shop my stash idea to my bookshelves to create a spooky seasonal book list. Some of these books are ones that I have read before and some are ones that I have not had a chance to read yet....but each book was chosen specifically to make the most of the fall season. Keep reading to take a peek at my book list for the next couple of months.

Thrifted Thrillers. It is hard for me to resist interesting books, especially when those books are at the thrift store for a dollar or less. The first book on my seasonal reading list for fall is from Mary Higgins Clark (who I have started to read in recent years). The book is Weep No More, My Lady and it is a thriller about the death of a famous actress. I have read a number of Mary Higgins Clark books at this point and pick up different ones whenever I see them at the thrift store. The second book is from an author that I am not familiar with, Barbara Michaels. It is called Into The Darkness and it is about a character who inherits a share in her grandfathers antique jewellery business. Based on the description on the back, this sounds like a thrilling mystery.

Re-Reading Archie Comic Books. Though the hairs on my head have started to turn grey and there are wrinkles on my forehead, I am still a child at heart. Over the years, all sorts of Archie comic books have been added to my bookshelf. I like to re-read them - especially the holiday editions. For this seasonal reading list, there were three Halloween themed Archies chosen. One was a thrifted find from last summer and the other two are issues that were purchased when they were released. It is always fun to see the classic Archie characters interact with spooky ghosts, goblins, witches, and all the rest.

New and Old Seasonal Reads. The first book shown in this photo is one that I found randomly at HomeSense of all places. It is called I Was a Teenage Slasher from Stephen Graham Jones. Again, I have not read anything from this author before, but the title intrigued me and I immediately thought it would be a fun read around the Halloween holiday. Something a little bit different, but also very relevant to my interests is In Defense of Witches: The Legacy of the Witch Hunts and Why Women Are Still on Trial by Mona Chollet. This feminist text looks at the history of the witch hunts and the judgement that women have faced over the years. I have already started this book and look forward to finishing it this season. And last on the list is Pumpkin Spice Peril from Jenn McKinlay, which is a re-read for me. It is a book that my husband bought me last year and I have decided to re-read once per year to get me into the fall spirit. It is a cozy mystery with all sorts of memorable characters.

What books are on your reading list for the fall season? Have you read any of these books?

  5. I don't think I've ever read any Mary Higgins Clark, but she's always been on my radar. Thanks for reminding me:) Have you read Grady Hendrix's books? He's more horror but I really love his books:) This is such a great list, Shannon, and those Archie comics are awesome! So jealous of your collection! I used to read a lot growing up...so much nostalgia when I see Archie:)
Hope you're having a great weekend so far. XOXO
