twenty questions book tag
Books are my passion. Reading them, writing them, collecting them.....books are my everything. Lately, I have been extra focused on a resolution I made for myself at the beginning of the year. It was to read twenty fiction and twenty non-fiction books by the time 2019 comes to a close. I've already surpassed my non-fiction goal (thanks to oodles of biographies and educational books) and am six away from my reaching my fiction goal. I know I can do it! But to keep myself feeling motivated, I wanted to do a twenty questions book tag that I found online. So, without further ado, here goes.
1. How many books are too many for a series? There are never too many! As long as the story and the characters haven't been compromised, a series can go on and on and on. It really depends on the story you are trying to tell and how long it takes you to do so.
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers? Oh, I hate them. I hate them so much. Mostly because I am incredibly impatient and find it difficult to wait for the follow up book to find out what happens. So a cliffhanger makes it even more challenging to wait for the next installment.
3. Hardcover or paperback? I don't have a preference, really. A book is a book and that in itself is exciting for me. That being said, hardcover books look nicer on my bookshelf!
4. Favourite book? Okay, this should be an easy question, but it is actually very difficult. I have a few that would make up my top favourites: There are Survivors by Michael Cuccione and Jane MacSporran, My Life So Far by Jane Fonda, Princess in Love by Meg Cabot, and I Think I Love You by Allison Pearson.
5. Least Favourite Book? There are a lot that I haven't enjoyed (I'm having flashbacks to grade school right now) but I think the Handmaid's Tale was my least favourite. I know, I know. Despite its popularity, I never enjoyed the writing style.
6. Love triangles, yes or no? Well, I want to say yes, but the main character never chooses the person I want her to be with! I hate that the heroine always chooses the bad boy (or the reformed bad boy) instead of the person who was decent and lovely from the get-go. Sigh.
7. The most recent book you couldn't finish? I do not leave books unfinished. Even if I hate them. I don't know why, but I simply cannot do it.
8. A book you're currently reading? I typically have 2-5 books on the go at all times (in different genres, so I choose what to read based on the mood I'm in) but my latest is Captive by Catherine Oxenberg. It is about the NXIVM cult and a mother's quest to save her daughter from the clutches of the cult leader.
9. Last book you recommended to someone? Meditations for Hope. I didn't so much recommend it as buy it for a friend because I knew it would be something she would enjoy!
10. Oldest book you've read by publication date? Okay, so I actually had to look this up. It would likely be Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Because I love Jane Austen and Google tells me that was her first published novel.
11. Newest book you've read by publication date? Maybe the NXIVM book I'm reading? That or Women's Book of Hope.
12. Favourite author? No doubt about it: Meg Cabot. Her career is everything I have ever wanted and her writing style is so ridiculously perfect, I can't even deal with it. Her books mean more to me than I can properly express.
13. Buying books or borrowing books? In a perfect world, I would love to buy and keep every single book I read. Sadly, this is unrealistic. I still buy a ton of books (at bookstores and second hand) and have shelves upon shelves of books but I also take books out from the library on a semi-regular basis. The latter allows me to dive into different genres and try out books from authors I may not be familiar with.
14. A book you dislike that everyone seems to love? City of Bones. I know! It's weird, because I loved the plot and the writing style, yet something about the book just didn't click with me. The whole concept is totally up my alley but it simply didn't capture my attention.
15. Bookmarks or dog ears? Bookmarks! For the love of God, bookmarks always! I hate seeing pages turned down or torn. It makes me anxious an uneasy and I distrust anyone who carelessly turns down the pages of a precious book.
16. A book you can always re-read? Anything from Meg Cabot or J.K. Rowling.
17. Can you read while listening to music? Absolutely! In fact, I love it. A lot of times, I'll put my iTunes on or I'll YouTube random reading music videos. I find it easier to concentrate when there is a little bit of background noise.
18. One POV or multiple? You know what? I don't really have a preference. As long as it is done well (whether that happens to be one narrator or several), all are valid and can be exciting for the reader.
19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days? It really depends on my schedule and the book itself. Yes, my reading habits are somewhat chaotic. Some books, I can easily devour in one day. (I love those days the best.) Other books, I have to try and fit into my busy days and sneak in as much reading as I possibly can.
20. Who do you tag? Anyone who loves books and want to do this tag. Tag! You're it!
Are you a fan of reading? What book are you currently working on?
İnteresting post 😊 thanks for your sharing 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting!
DeleteOmg, I agree with many of your answers, that's just crazy. :D I also hate, truly hate cliffhangers. I don't have patience at all, so I'm always very nervous about what will happen next. And the question number 6 - mine thoughts exactly! I just always ship relationships that will never happen in books I read. I prefer when the main character is with good, just perfect guy - well, the girls in books always choose this totally wrong for them bad boy. Ehhh.
ReplyDeleteI followed you blog, hope you could do the same. <3
Have an amazing weekend, dear! <3
Finally someone else who loathes cliffhangers, haha! I am so impatient to wait, especially since it can be so many years between books. Who has time for that?? Thank you so much for your comment and your support!

DeleteWhat a great tag, Shannon:) You know...I super hate cliffhangers too! HATE!!! And LOL...I was one of those who loved City Of Bones:D And I also dog-ear my books but also use bookmarks. I think my problem is that I always seem to lose bookmarks! Ack!
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, hope you're having a lovely Sunday night:)
Yes! It is so frustrating when they leave you with a cliffhanger. I hate it! I am someone who loses bookmarks as well, so I fully understand that. I've actually asked people to give me bookmarks for Christmas this year. Ha!
