review: l'oreal colorista washout hair colour in #red
Adventurous? Me? Not even a little. My idea of taking a risk is setting the alarm ten minutes later than I should. Generally speaking, I like things meticulously planned. (Okay, okay, I can be a bit of a control freak from time to time.) When it comes to my hair, basic is the best word to describe it. I typically opt for medium to long length with layers. Nothing more and nothing less.
It wasn't until my trip to Las Vegas this past spring that I did anything adventurous with my hair. Using the L'Oreal Colorista Washout Hair Colour along with their ombre bleach kit, I added a subtle hint of pink to my hair. Once the colour had washed out (it lasted about four washes), I was left with a super subtle ombre effect. This time? I did something a little bolder. Red.
I used the ombre kit again but left the bleach on for a few minutes longer than the previous time. (Before the pink, I got nervous and rinsed off the bleach earlier than the instructions suggested.) Then I added on their #red kit and let it sit for a full thirty minutes. Given how dark my hair is naturally, I was shocked by the results. Bright red! Vibrant red! Over the top red! Never in my life did I think that I would have red ombre hair....even temporarily.
While the pink washed out relatively quickly, the red is really hanging on. Even after eight washes (it is supposed to wash out in four to six washes), the colour is still noticeably there. Though the red is not quite as bright as it was originally, it is still super red. Honestly? I love it. Everyone has been complimenting me on it, even as it slowly starts to fade. The colour makes me happy and it has been a lot of fun to have in my hair this summer. The L'Oreal Colorista line is a fantastic way to experiment with colour without doing anything too risky. Which makes it perfect for the not-so-adventurous types.
What do you think of this colour? Have you ever used the Colorista line?
