review: fenty beauty killawatt freestyle highlighter (ginger binge/moscow mule)

Few makeup brands have been able to compare to Kylie Cosmetics and other Kardashian-brand releases. Until Fenty Beauty by Rihanna came along. Not only did it boast foundation shades for all skin tones (which is sadly, a rare occurrence)....but it had a unique selection of products. Now, it is on track to outsell Kylie, KKW, and even Kat Von D. Talk about making a mark on the cosmetics industry! Since its initial release, I have tried a few products from the Fenty Beauty line, which you may remember from my first impressions post. Since then, I have been desperate to try out more.

Enter the Killawat Freestyle Highlighter in the shades Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule. Though there are many different highlights in the collection, this one instantly stood out to me. I immediately fell in love with the warm and rich colours. These shades are described as being copper-toned and they definitely are. One has a more coppery look while the other half of the duo has more of a maroon finish. Something important to note? Though this is dubbed a highlighter, it can be used in multiple ways. For instance, it may be a traditional highlight for someone with a darker skin tone but for someone very pale, like myself, it works more like a blush and highlight in one. That definitely adds some versatility to this product. It can work for many different people in different ways.

As for the quality of this product, there is plenty to rave about. The packaging is sleek, simple, yet sturdy....and the shape of the compact stands out from other items in my makeup collection. The highlights themselves are very smooth in texture. Though Moscow Mule is more glittery and shimmery than Ginger Binge, they both have that smooth and soft feel to them. It doesn't ever look or feel chunky, which is a major plus. These are luxurious, pigmented, and add a warm glow to the skin.

Recently, I incorporated both shades into a makeup look I created. On the eyes, I went for a glittery purple smokey eye with a dusty rose lip. Then I layered both Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule onto the cheeks. It added a lovely flush of colour and a gorgeous glow.

Every time I try something from the Fenty Beauty line, I seem to be impressed. Here is hoping that trend continues!

And on another note....my latest YouTube video is up! It is all about color correcting products, so be sure to check it out.

Have you tried any of the highlighters? What did you think of them?

Editing Note: Due to the fact that Rihanna provided a platform to an abusive man, I no longer support her work or brands.
