four ways to have fun on your own.

Sometimes, we are scared to be by ourselves. We get so used to having other people around that we forget how to hang out with ourselves. If you are anything like me, then you know alone time can be good for the soul. It let's you re-charge, re-connect, and breathe a little easier. Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert...it is possible to make the most of an evening alone. Here are a few ideas that will keep you happy and entertained. All on your own.

  1. Netflix and Chill Solo. Never underestimate the power of binge watching a good (or sometimes, not so good) TV show. Sure, it can be fun to watch something with a friend, family member, or significant other, but think of it this way. When you Netflix and chill solo style, you decide what to watch and for how long. Plus, you don't have to worry about sharing snacks! So sit back, relax, and curl up with your favourite show.
  2. Learn Something New. It sounds cliche, but knowledge really is power. If you have ever wanted to learn a new skill, take a course, or pick up a new hobby, this is your chance. Buy art supplies from your local dollar store, read up on a new topic, sign up for an online class (there are tons to choose from and some are free), or do something you have always wanted to. Without other people around to judge...you can focus your attention on the pursuit of knowledge
  3. Cross Something Off Your Bucket List. We all have things that we want to do and accomplish in our lives. Whether you call it a bucket list, a to do list, or something else altogether....take a bit of time to dedicate yourself to that list. Choose one item and give it your full attention. You never know! It could be the start of something super rewarding.
  4. Throw a Dance Party or Theme Night. One thing that my best friend and I love to do is throw theme nights. (You know, 80s, 90s, TV show themes, movie themes....the list goes on and on.) So take that idea and apply it to your next night alone. Friend can't make it over? No one to make plans with? Not a problem. Throw on a New Kids on the Block t-shirt, play your old Nsync VHS tape, and have yourself a boyband theme night. Another option is to throw yourself a dance party. Put on some upbeat music and dance like no one is watching - because no one is!
Who says you need company to have a good time? Make your own fun. These are just a few suggestions. Get creative and make your next night in one to remember.

  4. You are right, for me it is really hard to be by myself, unless I'm home and can do things like blogging, see some series, because get out and go to the movies doesn't work for me at all ..

  11. Haha for a mother of a 1-year-old toddler, alone time stands for tram rides from work to kindergarten or evenings when she's already sleeping. But I love it this way! When you're with your family, it doesn't feel, at least for me, like I need alone time. But it's a phase in life, I guess. I'm happy that I'm able to write my blog when she's taking her nap. Thank you for stopping by my blog!
